A Guide To Buying An OMEGA Watch

A Guide To Buying An OMEGA Watch

From pioneering space exploration to unrivalled sports timekeeping and silver screen appearances, owning an OMEGA watch is like owning a little piece of history. Founded in 1848 in Switzerland, their pioneering Swiss watchmaking knowledge has been passed down through generations and has earned them a number of world firsts.

Making history as the first watch on the Moon, OMEGA’s string of accolades includes not only their award-winning role as Official Timekeeper of the Olympic Games - which we’re so excited to see for the 31st time in Paris 2024 - but also their dedication to watchmaking innovation, which has seen them create the world’s first Master Chronometer and signature OMEGA precision.

OMEGA’s attention to detail is evident in all of their creations. From the brand’s meticulously crafted movements and technical features to their exclusive, patented materials and emblematic dial details, OMEGA really are the masters in precision.

What is a Master Chronometer?

To earn the name Master Chronometer, a watch and its movement must pass 8 stringent tests which go far beyond the normal chronometer certification. Approved by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS), these watches are subjected to 10 days of testing and must demonstrate resistance to magnetic fields of 15,000 gauss.

Our guide will take you through OMEGA’s collections to help you find the watch that’s perfect for you. From luxury adventure watches in the OMEGA Seamaster collection to sophisticated dress watches in the Constellation range, find the OMEGA collection that’s perfect for you.

OMEGA Speedmaster

First released over 60 years ago, the OMEGA Speedmaster has probably the most legendary heritage of any Swiss Made watch. One of only a handful of watches to pass NASA’s most stringent tests, its stellar precision, strength and reliability led to it becoming the first watch to be worn on the Moon in 1969.

Whilst its contribution to space exploration has earned the Speedmaster its nickname: the Moonwatch, it was originally designed as a racing chronograph. Its dial was inspired by the dashboard of Italian cars, and it was the first watch to feature a tachymetric scale on its bezel - making it an immediate hit with competitive racing drivers. The three chronograph sub-dials, date window and tachymeter make this OMEGA Speedmaster 38mm Chronometer Chronograph Automatic Men's Watch a wonderfully multifunctional timepiece.

With an asymmetrical case, black step dial and the famous dot over 90 on the anodised aluminium bezel ring, we love this OMEGA Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional Men's Watch for its iconic story and new Master Chronometer Certification - the highest standard of precision, performance and magnetic resistance in the Swiss watch industry.

Sporting a classic and timeless style that’s the perfect accessory for any wardrobe, the OMEGA Constellation has been a design icon since it was first launched in 1952. Even though the Constellation collection might be revered for its good looks above all else, the movements that power these beautiful timepieces are also pretty impressive too.

The watch to be seen in if you want to stand out from the crowd; with its trademark star at 6 o’clock, the famous half-moon claws and the signature horizontal links, the Constellation is one of the world’s most instantly identifiable timepieces.

This OMEGA Constellation 28mm Diamond Ladies Watch boasts a dramatic, elegant and enduring design. With diamond dot hour markers set onto a purple sun brushed dial, it certainly reminisces the sparkling stars in the night sky.
